What 144 days of voluntary celibacy taught Me, a professional dominatrix, about personal discipline, breaking relationship patterns, and discovering new forms of intimacy
This was, without a doubt, the most terrifying part of life in recent years, and it is also the most honest I have ever shared on this podcast.
How it all started
In early spring, I made the conscious decision to enter celibacy. In the previous six years, I had lived through two (and a half) relationships, enough to realize a clear pattern in Myself: I never stayed truly single. As soon as one relationship ended, there was always another starting almost immediately. For a long time, I believed that the intimacy I was looking for was only possible within romantic relationships, and that belief kept Me trapped in a cycle that, looking back, never brought anything healthy to Me, to those I left behind, or to those who came next.
Discipline as a goal
One of My biggest personal goals that year was to develop discipline and consistency, in various aspects of life, not just the sexual one. Entering celibacy became a concrete part of that discipline: a conscious, daily decision to keep My sex life strictly to Myself, for 144 days (not that I was counting, haha).
I did not choose this because I had a particularly intense sex life during those six years, quite the contrary, I was sexually involved with only three people during that entire period. The motivation was different: I did not want to keep stopping Myself from working on Myself. I needed to understand why I was always jumping from relationship to relationship, and what that constant need was to have romantic love present in My life at all times.
What changed in Me
Time passed much faster than I expected; it was, as I usually say, the blink of an eye that allowed Me so much. The moment you take sex out of the equation, and it stops even being an option on the table, you realize there are countless other ways to relate to the people around you. It was during this period that the podcast itself was born, I found the time and disposition to start recording, I rediscovered old hobbies, and I deepened male friendships that did not involve romance or sex.
An interesting thing I noticed in Myself was the way I began to view the "male entity" more broadly, almost as an involuntary side effect of this process, something I did not consciously choose to change, but that shifted as I completely removed the possibility of romantic or sexual involvement from the equation.
Life after celibacy
When I finally broke celibacy, I entered a completely new phase for Me, which included, for example, going for the first time to events organized for single people, something I had never done before in My life. It was a fun and eye-opening experience, even if not always in the way one might expect; the full gossip is in the episode.
What I learned from these 144 days was not just about sexual abstinence; it was about discipline, about relationship patterns I repeated without realizing, and about the difference between needing someone and choosing to be with someone. And there is an interesting professional bonus in all this: even during personal celibacy, I continued to explore My fetishes in a non-sexual way within My work, something that became, without exaggeration, one of the great advantages of being a professional dominatrix.
In the episode, I share even more about how this changed the way I relate to other people today, including details of this new phase that I prefer to keep for those who listen until the end.
